Northern Redwood Federal Credit Union will celebrate its 54th
year in business this June. The Charter application for
the credit union was originally signed by the 7 charter members on June 3rd, 1955. The
approval by the Bureau of Federal Credit Unions came on June 14th, 1955. The Credit Union
has been owned by its members and operated by volunteer officers since 1955.
Northern Redwood Federal Credit Union has reached several milestones in its 50th year. The
credit union reached $15 million dollars in total assets.
Join us February 7, 2009 at The Plaza View Room at The Plaza Grill in the Jacoby Storehouse in
Arcata for our 54th Annual Meeting. This year's theme is "Building for the Future" we will have
dinner, raffle off prizes, update our members with highlights of our 53rd year in business, and
what to expect with our 54th! Tickets are $20 and include a choice of dinner.
The credit union was originally chartered to serve employees of Simpson Timber and their
families. Later, other groups were added, including Teamster's Local #137 (headquartered in
Redding, CA); Humboldt Beer Distributors; and most recently, the Community of those who
live or work in the Northern Humboldt School District area. Over the past 50 years, the staff
has grown from one to six. Total loans made are approximately 22,000 for over $67 million
dollars. |
